Support for ODF, DOC, PDF and PDF/a

For a customer I need to produce classic Word 97-2003 formatted documents (.doc), since they do not yet want to switch their enterprise document standard to OOXML (.docx). And although not yet a requirement, I expect support for creation of OpenDocumentFormat (.odt), PDF and PDF/a to become a nice-to-have soon. I therefore looked into some commercial converter libraries and found Aspose.Words. I only did a few tests, but so far it looks promising and considering the price, it's definately not worth building the actual conversion yourself. If you only need to create PDF-documents, you can also check out AltSoft's Xml2Pdf Server which seems to do the exact same.

Make sure you test the output of these products before actually buying them! The conceptual differences in the fileformats themselves make conversion a very complex task and each vendor chooses their own way of handling those differences.
